GRANITE CONSTRUCTION COMPANY
TRACY EXCAVATION EXPANSION
PAGE 7
Excavation depth would be variable and is estimated to be from 10 to 80 vertical feet below the existing
ground elevation. Excavation slopes would be constructed at a gradient of 1.5:1 (horizontal to vertical)
as allowed by a geotechnical slope stability analysis. Final slopes will be contoured 1.5:1 or flatter. The
depth of excavation would terminate above the water table. Water was not encountered in any of the test
boreholes to a depth of 125'. The maximum depth of excavation is approximately 80' deep.
Following excavation, the mined areas would be graded as shown on DWG. 04, behind Tab 5. These
areas would be re-seeded to native grasses and forbs and allowed to revert to an annual grassland habitat.
D. SIZE
1. New acreage to be permitted: 137 acres
2. Total acreage to be disturbed: 111 acres
3. Total acreage to be reclaimed: 111 acres
E. WATER REQUIREMENTS
1. The Existing processing plant uses 781 acre feet per year of groundwater, or an average of 2.14 acre feet
per day.
2. The source of the water is from two existing wells located near the processing plant. The project will not
increase the existing average annual water use.
