Mining Plan
1. Operating Plan
Granite is proposing a mining operation to extract sand and gravel from property located
south of the current Tracy Expansion site (QX-99-1). Excavation will progress from the
northern property boundary and proceed southward. Excavation will commence following
completion of mining activities at QX-99-1, which is estimated to be completed in 2005 —
200G. Actual excavation initiation will depend on market factors and the rate at which material
is removed at QX-99-1. Removal of material at this site will occur over an approximate 4 year
period, with an anticipated rate of approximately 850,000 Cy/Yr. Material extracted from this
site will be transported to the existing Tracy processing facility, located east of the California
Aquaduct, by means of a bridge conveyor system crossing the Aquaduct currently in use and
approved by the Department of Water Resources (DWR).
Material processing at the Tracy facility currently consists of processing material thru a series
of washing and scrubbing operations followed by wet and dry screens and crushing as needed.
Finished products include concrete sand, crushed product used in Asphaltic Concrete
production, and other aggregate construction material. The addition of the proposed site will
not increase the yearly production of the Tracy processing facility.
C
F
4
,4
