Specifications ENGINEERING,INC. <br /> 2) Cold-applied vinyl to vinyl bonding adhesive shall be applied to the full contact surfaces <br /> %W of the joint area, and the two surfaces pressed together immediately. Any wrinkles shall <br /> be smoothed out. <br /> 3) Factory and field splices shall have a strength of 80% of the specified sheet strength and <br /> shall be demonstrated to the satisfaction of the Engineer. <br /> 4) Bonding of the splices shall be thorough so as to assure a waterproof wetland liner and <br /> `W shall be inspected by the Engineer when completed. <br /> �► 5) The liner should not be pulled too tight. Wrinkles or folds will not affect the performance <br /> of the liner. The liner will stretch in warm or hot weather and contract in cool or cold <br /> weather. The lined area should be walked after deployment to insure that the liner is lying <br /> flat in all areas. Sandbags should be spread out across the exposed area to protect against <br /> wind damage. At this point the perimeter of the liner should be temporarily secured. If <br /> the liner is allowed to contract overnight or if water is placed in the wetland, these <br /> activities will help seat the liner. The edge of the liner can now be anchored or secured in <br /> the anchor trench or totally secured with backfill or other ballast materials. Now you're <br /> ready to introduce liquid into your wetland/ lagoon. <br /> 5.4.3. Joints to Structures <br /> 1) All curing compounds and coating shall be completely removed from the joint area of the <br /> structure. Joining of polypropylene to concrete shall be made with a vinyl adhesive and <br /> �► mechanically fastened, as approved by the manufacturer and engineer. <br /> 2) The minimum width of concrete to polypropylene joint shall be 4 inches. <br /> %W 3) The polypropylene membrane shall be sealed to all concrete structures and other <br /> openings through the lining in accordance with details shown on the engineer approved <br /> *00 drawings. <br /> \,r 4) Factory and/or field fabricated boots shall be used to seal all pipes penetrating the liner. <br /> All joints shall be tightly bonded. <br /> %W 1) Repairs to PVC to the liner shall be patched with the lining material itself and cold <br /> �hw applied splicing adhesive. <br /> `„ 2) The splicing adhesive shall be applied to the contact surfaces of both the patch and lining <br /> to be repaired, and the two surfaces pressed together immediately. Contact surfaces shall <br /> be a minimum of 4' wide. <br /> 3) Any wrinkles shall be smoothed out. <br /> 5.4.4. Quality of Workmanship <br /> All lining surfaces showing injury due to scuffing, penetration by foreign objects or distress from <br /> rough sub-grade shall, as directed by the Engineer, be repaired with an additional layer of liner <br /> which extends a minimum of 6" past any damaged areas. <br /> 6. WETLAND STRUCTURES AND FILL <br /> -- 6.1. Inlet/Outlet/Overflow <br /> The wetland inlet, outlet, and overflow are constructed of 4" PVC piping that extend through the <br /> earthen berm. Pipes the puncture the liner shall use a liner sleeve as per the manufacturer's <br /> instructions.
