Plastic pipe shall be snaked from side to side in the trench to allow 1 foot of expansion <br /> and contraction per 100 feet of straight run. <br /> The pipeline shall not be exposed to water for 24 hours after the last solvent-welded joint is <br /> made. <br /> 1.. 9.7. Flushing and testing <br /> After completion, all pipelines shall be thoroughly flushed to remove dirt, scale, or other <br /> material. After flushing, the line shall be pressure tested. All equipment, materials and labor <br /> necessary to perform the tests shall be furnished by the contractor and all tests shall be conducted <br /> L in the presence of the owner or engineer. <br /> 10. VALVES <br /> Valves shall be of the size, type, and capacity designated on the plans or in the specifications and <br /> shall comply with the requirements specified herein. All valves shall be capable of satisfactory <br /> .. performance at working pressure of 150 psi. Valves shall be designed to permit disassembly to <br /> replace sealing components without removal of the valve body from the pipeline. <br /> 10.1. Ball Valves <br /> All ball valves shall have a brass or stainless steel body and cap, they shall have threaded <br /> MW connections and conform to AWWA standard C507-91. <br /> 10.2. Check Valves <br /> All check valves shall be ball or horizontal swing check valves, constructed of PVC bodies with <br /> true or single union valve assemblies. <br /> 10.3. Gate Valves <br /> Gate valves shall be class 200 conforming to AWWA standard c-509-80 designed for 150 psi <br /> working pressure. Gate valves in sizes 2 inches and smaller shall be all bronze double disc <br /> wedge type with integral taper seats and nonrising stem. Sizes 2-1/2 inches and larger shall be <br /> iron body, brass trimmed. <br /> 11. ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS AND SERVICE <br /> _ All electrical equipment shall conform to the standards of the National Electrical Manufactures <br /> Association(NEMA), the Underwiters' Laboratories Inc. (UL), or the Electronic Industries <br /> Association (EIA), wherever applicable. In addition to the requirements of the plans and <br /> specifications, all materials shall conform where applicable to the requirements of the National <br /> Electrical Code, hereinafter referred to as the Code; California Administrative Code, Title 8 <br /> subchapter 5, Electrical Safety Orders; Rules for Overhead Electrical Line Construction, General <br /> Order no. 95, and rules for Construction of Underground Electric Supply and Communication <br /> Systems, General Order No. 128, of the Public Utilities Commission. <br /> The contractor shall obtain an electrical permit from the county building official for all electrical <br /> work prior to commencement of all site work. <br /> 1ESSIE'S GROVE WINERY 35 MAY 2002 <br />
