Quarterly Monitoring Report—Fourth Quarter of 2009 Page 4 TURNER ROAD VINTNERS January 22,2010 WKA No. 5279.03 4.2 Groundwater Sampling In addition to DTW monitoring conducted on December 29 and 30, 2009, groundwater samples were collected from each of the five groundwater-monitoring wells. Prior to sampling, each well was purged of approximately three casing volumes. During purging,turbidity, temperature, pH, conductivity, and total dissolved solids (TDS) measurements and/or observations were recorded for each monitoring well. Dedicated low-density polyethylene (LDPE) tubing was used for each well for purging/sampling. Following purging of the calculated well-purge volume, groundwater samples were obtained. Each well was purged using an electric submersible pump and samples were collected from the purge pump discharge. All groundwater samples were collected in laboratory-preserved, analyte-specific sampling containers provided by the analytical laboratory. Samples were immediately placed in an ice-chest containing ice and submitted under chain-of-custody documentation to California Laboratory Services, Inc. of Rancho Cordova, California, a California Department of Health Services-certified laboratory, for analysis as follows: • Nitrate-as-nitrogen • Total dissolved solids • Standard Minerals • Specific Conductivity • pH Well monitoring and purging equipment were cleaned prior to use in each well. Equipment cleaning rinsate and water purged from the wells were discharged into one of the aeration ponds on site. 5.0 RESULTS OF MONITORING AND SAMPLE ANALYSIS 5.1 Site Groundwater Conditions Groundwater DTW at the site ranged from 13.00 feet below-top-of-casing (btoc) in monitoring _ well MW2 to 24.42 feet btoc in monitoring well MW3.
