Quarterly Monitoring Report—Fourth Quarter of 2009 Page 6
TURNER ROAD VINTNERS January 22,2010
WKA No. 5279.03
_ • Nitrate-as-nitrogen was below the laboratory-reporting limit of 0.50 mg/L in
MWI, MW2, and MWS. Nitrate-as-nitrogen was detected in the sample set at
17 mg/L in MW3 and at 3.4 mg/L in MW4;
• pH in the sample set ranged from 6.81 in MW5 to 7.51 in MW2;
_ • Specific Conductance in the sample set ranged from 720 mg/L in MW2 to 1,800
mg/L in MW5;
• Sulfate as SO4 in the sample set ranged from 6.81 in MW5 to 7.51 in MW2;
• TDS concentrations in the sample set ranged from 460 milligrams per liter (mg/L)
in MW2 to 1,200 mg/L in MW5.
Table 3 is a summary of historical groundwater analyses results from the site and includes the
most recent laboratory results. Time series plots of the parameters TDS (plus groundwater
elevation) for each of the monitoring wells are included as Charts 1 through 5. Appendix A
includes the laboratory report for this sampling event and a copy of the chain-of-custody.
5.3 Data Quality
All samples were received by the laboratory under documented chain-of-custody. United States
Environmental Protection Agency SW-846 (EPA 2000) protocols for sample storage and
preservation were followed. Qualifiers were attached to all pH results since the samples
exceeded the analytical method hold time.
The spike recovery was outside the QC acceptance limits for the MS and/or MSD due to analyte
concentration at 4 times or greater the spike concentration. The QC batch was accepted based on
LCS and/or LCSD recoveries within the accepted limits.
Based on the results of laboratory analyses and review of sampling procedures, laboratory
quality assurance and quality control, and review of historical analytical results, the data appears
adequate for the use intended.
6.0 SUMMARY
Quarterly groundwater monitoring of the process wastewater treatment well network was
conducted on December 29 and 30, 2009 at the Turner Road Vintners' facility.
