S.
MONITORING WELL INSTALLATION WORK PLAN
WKA No. 5279.02
January 30, 2004
Page 5
is anticipated that a minimum of five well volumes of water would be
removed from each well during this process.
Well Sampling
• Approximately 48-hours after the new wells have been developed,
groundwater samples will be collected from each of the four wells at the West
Facility. Prior to sampling, the depth to water in each well will be measured
using an electronic water level indicator. A groundwater sample will be
collected from each well by first purging the well of a minimum of three well
volumes or until temperature, conductivity and pH field readings stabilize.
The wells will be purged using a submersible pump or hand bailing
equipment. Once suitably purged, samples will be obtained either through a
sample-grade submersible pump or by using hand-bailing equipment.
Sampling equipment will be cleaned before sampling each well.
• Equipment cleaning rinsate and water purged from wells will be disposed on
site in the wastewater disposal ponds.
• Following purging, a groundwater sample will be collected from each of the
four wells using a new polyethylene disposable bailer and decanted into
appropriate sampling containers provided by the analytical laboratory. Each
sample will immediately be placed in an ice-chest containing ice and
submitted under Chain-of-Custody documentation to a California Department
of Health Services-certified laboratory for analysis of Total Dissolved Solids
(TDS),Nitrate as Nitrogen, Specific Conductance,pH, and General Minerals
(Calcium, Chloride, Magnesium, Sodium,Nitrate, Sulfate, Hardness, and
Total Alkalinity including Alkalinity Series).
Report Preparation
• Upon completion of our field work,we will prepare a Monitoring Well Installation
Report which will include: a site plan showing the locations of the new monitoring
wells, logs of the soil borings describing soil types, monitoring well construction
INK
WALLACE•KUHL
6 ASSOCIATES INC.
