Ivy
Existing Septic Tank Usage in the Vicinity
To determine the existing septic system usage in the area, our office counted septic
systems that exist approximately one square mile surrounding the property. Recent air
photo imagery from GoogleEarthTm was used. Each building cluster on the photo was
assumed to have one septic system. Using this method, we determined that there is a
minimum of 32 septic systems per square mile in the immediate vicinity of the Site. 01
The general area consists of vineyards and rural residential properties. City of Lodi
residential subdivisions are located approximately one-half mile to the east.
Septic Permit History in the Vicinity
Based on a recent review of septic permits on file at the San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department for nearby properties, the septic systems in the area
utilize leach lines or leach lines and sumps. The septic permits can be found in `
v Appendix 4 of this report.
Expected On-Site Maximum Septic Tank Usage
Maximum expected usage on the Site would be from the winery building and existing
62 residence. Septic system design should be based on the On-Site Wastewater Disposal
Standards (2003) or other engineering recommendations.
t ; Ground Water Information
Depth and Gradient
Live Oak reviewed ground water elevation information available from the San Joaquin
County Flood Control and Water Conservation District to determine the ground water
levels near the Site. Data from spring and fall of 2009 were the most recent available
from this source. According to an analysis of these maps (Plates 5 and 6), ground
. ) water elevation is three to four feet above mean sea level; ground water flows toward
the southwest at a rate of 13 to 15 feet per mile in the vicinity of the Site.
Given that the ground elevation of the Site is approximately 35 to 36 feet, the depth to
water below the Site is estimated to be 31 to 33 feet.
Potential Ground Water Contamination Issues
The Soil Suitability Study is not intended to be an investigation into ground-water
CZ contamination sources, and no such investigation was conducted. Many sources can
contribute to ground water contamination, including leaking underground storage tanks, 6Y.
agricultural activities, dairies, septic systems, and storm water infiltration.
