III. PRESENT AND PAST USE OF THE SITE
Except for the existing Shimozaki residence and the old house, the entire property
is currently and has been a vineyard for the last 70+ years.
IV EXISTING AND PROPOSED SEPTIC TANK USAGE
The Shimozaki residence is 37 years old and is utilizing an on-site sewage disposal
system consisting of a septic tank (1500 gallons) and one leach line 75 feet long ending with
an 18 foot deep dry well. The present leach line and dry well were installed in 1985 and
replaced the original leach lines. The original leach lines were installed in 1963, and
consisted of a series of three leech lines branching off of two leech lines, for a total of 5
lines, 20 feet in length. These original lines silted up and failed in 1985. The Shimozakis
have experienced no problems with their current septic system during its six year history.
During the excavation of test pit 2 (see section VI) a leach line of the abandoned old
house on the proposed parcel 1 was encountered. It was observed that this line was almost
entirely silted up.
It is proposed to utilize an on-site sewage disposal system for the new residence to
be constructed on the proposed parcel 1. The neighbors in the immediate area also use on-
site sewage disposal systems. These systems generally consist of a septic tank, leach lines,
and dry wells. Several of the neighbors in the area were interviewed to determine the
history of septic systems in the general area and to help in assessing the feasibility of the
proposed septic system. This information is presented next:
OWNER: Simpsons
ADDRESS: 14206 N. Vintage Rd.
LOCATION: 150 yds east of property.
AGE OF HOUSE: 80 years
SEPTIC SYSTEM: Yes,consists of two septic tanks, one older leech line (for laundry), and
an updated (10 years ago) 75 foot leech line with an 8 foot dry well.
Have had no problems with system.
OWNER: Louis
ADDRESS: 13887 N. Vintage Rd.
LOCATION: 400 yds south.
AGE OF HOUSE: 30 years
SEPTIC SYSTEM: Yes, double generating system: two septic tanks and seven leech lines
at 140 feet each. Have not had any problems with system in 12 year
history since installation.
ID E R S O,
2 P ti
s
Z W;
9SS 0 G\
P'
