October 7, 1999
Job Number. S99226
Page 6
between 0 to 2.5 feet followed by a brown clayey fine sand or brown silty sand to between 9 to 10
feet. A rusty-red colored fine to medium sand was found generally deeper than 9 feet and up to
19 feet deep.
Six 36 inch deep "shallow" percolation tests were conducted to determine the percolation
rate near the surface. Preliminary results from the six tests indicated a slow percolation rate of the
near surface zone that would most likely not satisfy the minimum County requirements. The six
shallow percolation holes were abandoned. Six deeper soil borings were drilled by Neil O.
Anderson& Associates to locate a permeable soil suitable for the percolation test.
The six deeper percolation hole borings were drilled to about 1 foot past the top of the
rusty-red colored fine to medium sand located between 9 to 10 feet in depth. Several inches of
"pea gravel"was placed in the bottom of the hole, 2 inch casing was installed, and several feet of
"pea gravel"was backfilled in the annular space.
The percolation tests were conducted on September 9, 1999 in accordance with the
requirements of San Joaquin County Environmental Health Division. The tests were observed
and approved by Ms. Adrienne Ellsaesser of the County Environmental Health Division.
