J
Hilvers Residence
April 26, 1993
Page 4
f EFFLUENT DISPOSAL HISTORY
Site
Based on conversations with the current owner, the subject property was used as
a dairy from approximately 1950 to 1970. The site has been used as an almond
orchard from 1970 to the present. The home and septic system were placed on the
property in 1969, with the septic tank being replaced in 1978. There have been no
reports of poor performance of the system.
LVicinity
L The sewage handling in this area consists generally of septic tank use for single
family houses. The density of houses in the area is low because of the current
zoning status. In conversations with the San Joaquin County Planning Department,
L they indicated that the property is zoned AG-40, which indicates that the minimum
size of the parcels are to be no smaller than 40 acres. There are provisions that
allow for the separation of smaller parcels to be subdivided for the purposes of a
private dwelling.
A review of the septic tank permits and repair orders file at the San Joaquin County
Public Health Services-Environmental Health Department (PHS-EHD) indicate that
there have been no failures in the site vicinity. A review of the PHS-EHD Site Data
Base, File Location List, and available maps documenting releases of hazardous
materials, indicates that there are no documented releases of hazardous materials on
i the site or in the vicinity that would adversely impact the groundwater.
{„s PERCOLATION TESTS
Two percolation tests were performed (see Figure 2 for locations) and conducted in
accordance with PHS-EHD practices. Percolation test results indicate that the soil
in Parcel 1 (1 .5 acres) has a percolation rate of 9.2 minutes/inch and the soil in the
remainder 39.3 acres has a percolation rate of 16 minutes/inch. The soil overall
appears to be consistent throughout the area and has passing percolation rates. The
data from the percolation tests are presented in the appendix.
4
