L
LNovember 27,2006
NOA Project Number: E06115A
6.0 PERCOLATION TEST INFORMATION
L6.1 Percolation Test Locations
A site map indicating the locations of the percolation test holes is included as Plate 1 of this report. [6—/a
6.2 Number of Percolation Tests
One six foot hole and ten shallow holes between six inches and three and a half feet in depth were
Lused as percolation test holes on the Site.
L6.3 Boring Preparation and Presaturation
The soil borings on the site were advanced with a hand augur on September 11, October 11, and
October 25, 2006.
6. A 1.5-inch diameter PVC pipe with perforations on the bottom was used to measure the drop of
water in the percolation test boring. Approximately 2 inches of"pea gravel' were placed in the
`. bottom of the open soil boring, then the PVC pipe was installed on top of the gravel. "Pea gravel'
was used to backfill in the annular space.
Presaturation of the percolation test holes occurred approximatly 24 hours before the day of testing.
The depth of water used to pre-soak was 12 inches above the bottom of the boring for n / 1
test holes with a depth de _ one foot, and the depth of water used to pre-soak a shallow
holes was approxima y six inches.
L
6.4 Condition of Borings After Presaturation
16' After the 24-hour soak period, the presaturated holes were found to be intact and dry the day of
testing. G
6' 6.5 Percolation Test Procedure
L Percolation tests were conducted for the borings on September 12, October 12 and 13, and October
25 in accordance with the requirements of the EHD. A percolation test with a duration of four
hours was performed for each hole with the exception of a six inch engineering test hole on which a
L one hour test was performed for engineering purposes. The last half hour of the 4-hour percolation
tests were observed by Mr. Michael Escotto,Registered Environmental Health Inspector,EHD.
L
9
4 ",44
