kn KLEINFELDER
located south of the dry land levee near the north property boundary. A residence and a garage
were located in the northwest corner of the property. A domestic well and a septic sstem are
located near the residence. Scattered single-family resi ences w re ocated along Wing Levee
■. Road.
2. PRESENT AND PAST USE
i_
A surface/subsurface contamination report` prepared for the subject property indicates that
am based on a review of various sources, including aerial photographs and a personal interview,
the property has been used as undeveloped or agricultural land for at least 90 years and no other
uses are known. Other than those discussed in the previous section, no other structures or wells
.. are known to have existed on the site.
3. SEPTIC PERMITS AND PERFORMANCE
A representative of our firm searched the SJCEHD files to identify septic permits at parcels in
` the vicinity of the subject property. There were no SJCEHD septic permits on file for either of
the parcels within the study-area.—Permits were on file for several of the nearby properties
a ongmg Levee Road. The permits were for new installations as well as a repair/addition. A
un summary of permit information is presented on Plate 3, and copies of the permits are attached.
To the best of our knowledge, these septic systems are performing acceptably with no repairs
required.
4. GROUNDWATER
At the time of our investigation, groundwater was encountered in each of the exploration
borings at depths ranging from about 5.3 to 8.5 feet below the existing ground surface Lines
of Equal Depth to Groundwater and Equal Elevation o roun water contour maps published
in groundwater reports by the San Joaquin County Flood Control and Water Conservation
District do not extend to the project site. The water table at Union Island, and other islands in
the delta, is controlled by collecting groundwater in a series of ditches and pumping it into the
surrounding rivers and sloughs. Therefore, other than during times of irrigation, the depth to
groundwater at any one location should not vary significantly throughout the year.
Groundwater gradient on Union Island is controlled by the ditches and pumps on the island and
will depend on the proximity to a drainage ditch. Therefore, the overall groundwater gradient
within the site is unknown and likely varies considerably within the study area.
There is a domestic well on the site. Groundwater from the well is used for domestic purposes.
At this time, no additional wells are planned, and groundwater use will remain the same.
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc., "Surface/Subsurface Contamination Report—C&W Farms SSCR—16000&16480 South
Wing Levee Road, California May 31,2004.
a.
bw
48067.G01/ST04R1257 Page 2 of 8
©2004 Kleinfelder,Inc.
