y June 12, 2006
NOA Project Number: E06061A
/The estimated sewage flow rates for use categories are available from a number of references. The
uses presented below were guided by the San Joaquin County On-Site Wastewater Dirfiosal Standards
(2003), Crites and Tchobanoglous (1998), and EPA (1980). The text from Crites and
60 The
(1998) (Table 4-2) indicates that the typical residential use rate is 70 gallons per day.
The EPA (1980) Design Manual(Table 4-6) indicates the typical use rate is 45 gallons per day for a
resident. The higher estimate of Crites and Tchobanoglous will be used for residential use.
✓The text from Crites and Tchobanoglous (1998) (Table 4-2) indicates that the typical office worker
(includes commercial workers) use rate is 13 gpd. The EPA (1980) Design Manual (Table 4-6)
indicates the typical use rate is 14.5 gpd for an office worker. Since the Crites and Tchobanoglous
(1998) information is the most current available, our office believes it provides the best estimate of
waste water flow for the office/commercial worker category. Therefore, 13 gpd will be used for
Leach employee.
To estimate the waste water flow from customer visits (including guests at marketing events), each
visit to the Site is estimated to generate 2 gallons of waste water.
V
The following table presents the septic waste water uses associated with the Site. The rates
presented from the references provide general guidance but do not always reflect a match in usage.
Careful examination, professional judgement, and experience are necessary to select a reasonable
flow rate estimate. The flow rates selected for the uses associated with this project are presented
L next
Typical Quantity of Effluent
Category Total People per Average Quantity per Average Daily Flow
Day Person Per Parcel
Residential 7 70 gpd/resident 7 residents*70 gpd=490 gpd ✓
Total Residential 490 gpd
i
Commercial— ✓ 2 Mon-Fri 2 employees*13 gpd* 5/7= 18.6 gpd "
Employee G 2 Thurs-Sun 13 gpd/employee 2 employees* 13 gpd* — 14.9 gke-cerL
Commercial-- ✓20 Thurs-Sun mers*2 gpd*4/7=22.8Customer /40 special event 2 BPd/customer 0 customers*2 gpd*4/365 =0.88 Total Commercial dNote —gpd is gallons per day;5/7 is a conversion for the 5-day week;4/7 isac s ay
through Sunday;4/365 in a conversion for four events per year. _
/For the subject property, the total average daily waste water quantity is 490 gallons per day (gpd) -: -Z
Lfrom residential use and 57 gpd from commercial use, a total of 547 gpd. a!a ee'-lr5'
total -concerltranon of domestic waste water is normally considered to be
20-85 mg/L-lytth 35 to 45 N being typical (Crites and Tchobanoglous, 1998).
