There is currently one well on the subject property . The
results of the Dibromochloropropane (DBCP) and nitrates are
included in the enclosed appendix .
VI . SOIL PROFILE AND PERCOLATION TESTS
Two test holes were excavated to depths of 3 . 0 feet in the
areas of the proposed homesites . The purpose of the test holes
was to determine percolation rates in these areas . For
approximate location of the test holes , see the percolation test
results in the Appendix . Holes were prepared in accordance with
County standards .
Generally the surface soils consisted of loam as
classified by visual inspection. As shallow percolation tests
proved adequate for conventional septic systems , no further soil
exploration was necessary.
I'he percolation tests were performed in 8 inch diameter by
36 inch deep test holes backfilled with two inches of gravel .
Both holes were filled with water 24 hours prior to running the
test . A four hour percolation test was performed and the last
half hour of the test readings were witnessed by a county health
official and the test data obtained is enclosed in the Appendix.
The results of the tests yield the following results :
Parcel 1 (Hole 1 ) - 3 in/hr
Parcel 2 (Hole 2 ) - 2 in/hr
VII . CONCLUSION
Based on the results of the percolation tests , the soil
profile , and the performance of the septic systems in the
surrounding area, it is Dillon and Murphy' s opinion that the new
homesites resulting from the proposed parcel split of the subject
property are suited for the construction of a typical on site
sewage disposal system. The proposed system, however, should be
properly designed and installed according to current Sari Joaquin
County criteria.
It should be noted that the location of each of the
percolation tests were chosen as the most likely location for a
disposal field. Although it is not anticipated that soil
conditions vary greatly over the subject project , if the actual
location of a proposed disposal field varies significantly from
the test locations , the test data should not be considered
accurate of other locations .
Based on the minimal impact to the surrounding population,
and the size of the proposed parcels , it is our opinion that the
installation of the proposed septic systems , if properly
-. 2
