4640 E. Woodward Avenue
d. Addendum to Revised Soil Suitability and Nitrate Loading Study
Prepared by Kleinfelder, Inc. July 13,2006
2.0 INTRODUCTION
Use Permit Application No. PA-0800206 was submitted to San Joaquin County
ty
Development Department (SJC CDD), to allow the use of 4640 E. Woodward Avenue lin
Manteca to be changed from residential to religious assembly. SJC CDD reviewed the
application and on December 28, 2004 issued Conditions of Approval for or PA-0800206.
A Revised Soil Suitability and Nitrate Loading Study was prepared by Kleinfelder, Inc. dated
f July 13, 2006. It is GTI's understanding that this study was prepared in anticipation of
construction of a Proposed Sikh Temple, but the proposed improvements were not
constructed. The nitrate loading study includes percolation testing in the vicinity of the
proposed septic leach field. Improvements at 4640 E. Woodward Avenue since that time
have included construction of a game room in colij . cti0ft-with the existing residence, a
E .,.
J parking lot, and septic system consisting of twoeac -2,000 gallon se
leach field. tic tanks and a septic
In order to allow the proposed use change, San Joaquin County Environmental Health
. Department (SJC EHD re
) is requiring g that the Nitrate Loading Study be updated to reflect the
proposed occupancy, and that a percolation test be performed in the vicinity of the existing
septic leach field. The existing septic system was constructed in an area other than what was
proposed in 2006-a1ore the colation tests conducted in 2006 were located in an
area that is an 100 feet from the xisting leach field.
GTI was retained y 1VIr. irinder Singh to address Environmental Health Department
Condition 3. a., which includes performing a percolation test per SJC EHD Standard
Procedures and oversight, and providing an addendum to the Revised Soil Suitability and
' Nitrate Loading Study,
3.0 PERCOLATION TESTING ACTIVITIES AND RESULTS
3.1 Purpose of Investigation
i
The purpose of the percolation testing was to collect additional data in order to evaluate the percolation rate of the soil in the vicinity of the existing septic leach field.
i
3.2 Summary of Activities
GTI obtained an over-the-counter permit from SJC EHD for the advancement of two
percolation test boreholes on June /
6, 2011 (Appendix A). On June 7, 2011, GTI staff
mobilized on site and advanced two each four-inch diameter boreholes to a depth of 42-
inches below ground surface in the location shown on Figure 2. In accordance with SJC
EHD Percolation Test Procedure (Appendix A), GTI staff scored the sides to remove any
smeared soil surfaces, removed loose material from the holes, and applied 2 inches of coarse
i sand. The test holes were pre-soaked by adding water a minimum of 12 inches over the
► Geological Technics Inc. 2
16232 Nitrate Loading Addendum.docx
