Existing and Proposed Septic Tank Usage
Ift—
Existing Septic System
According to the Site Plan by Mike Smith Engineering (2013), one septic system (3. 0
currently exists on the Site to serve the residence.
Proposed Septic System
The Site Plan depicts a new septic system to serve the proposed winery.
On-Site Septic Permit History
The San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department septic permit files were
searched for the Site addresses. One permit, dated August 2006, was identified; it
depicts the addition of one 40-foot leach line and three 36-inch diameter by 25-foot 3)
deep seepage pits to the existing residential system. This permit is included in
Appendix 4 of this report.
Existing Septic Tank Usage in the Vicinity
To estimate the septic system usage in the area, our office counted septic systems that
exist within approximately one square mile surrounding the property. Air photo imagery
from GoogleEarthT"' was used. Each building cluster on the photo was assumed to
have one septic system. Using this method, it is estimated that at least 23 septic
systems per square mile are located in the immediate vicinity of the Site.
The general area consists of vineyards, grazing land, and rural residences. A poultry
farm is located to the immediate south of the Site, and a producer of milled agricultural
shell products is located to the immediate southeast.
Septic Permit History in the Vicinity
Based on a recent review of septic permits on file at the San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department for nearby properties, most septic systems in the 3 3.L
area appear to utilize leach lines and seepage pits. One permit indicates a system with
leach lines and "ponds." The septic permits can be found in Appendix 4 of this report.
LOGE 1402 Page 2
