SECTION 4 (continued)
P. Written Spill & Leak Control Procedures -- Refer to Material Safety Data Sheets and
labels. Other resources may be useful to help prepare these procedures the company will
follow. (Attach additional sheets if necessary).
1. quids:
(List your procedures for taking care of a liquid hazardous material spill).
All process areas have containment for liquid spills. This includes the wash rack,
chemical storage and wastewater pretreatment facility. Spills are picked up and
recycled to the maximum extent possible. The area may be neutralized and/or
washed. Any spill outside the contained area is contained (with earth dikes, sand
bags, etc.), picked up, neutralized and the area cleaned. Protective equipment
is worn.
2. Compressed Gases:
(List your procedures for responding to a compressed gas release).
The only compressed gases normally stored are oxygen and acetylene in portable
welders. Should a release occur the procedure is to stop the leak by closing the
supply valve.
Solids/Powders:
(List actions you will take if you have a solid/powder hazardous materials incident).
Solids are not handled in normal operations. Any spill would be contained, picked
up and put into appropriate container for disposal by approved means.
