Beck Property,Tracy,CA November 1988 Site Investigation
Each of the four auger borings was drilled to the 15 to 16-foot depth. The Soil was
observed and samples collected at the bottom of each borehole for laboratory
analysis. Refer to the Soil Boring Logs for a description of field observations and
sample identification. AEMC utilized a stainless steel bailer to collect a sample of
the groundwater at the bottom of AB-B for laboratory analysis. The soil in AB-B
was contaminated with fuel oil.
Monitoring Well Establishment
As discussed in the previous section of this report, AEMC repositioned the location
of the shallow monitoring well (BD-4) approximately 150 feet towards the northwest
(down gradient groundwater direction). The deep monitoring well was eliminated to
facilitate investigation of the oil contaminants detected outside the perimeter of the
reservoir.
Monitoring Well BD-4 was designed, engineered and constructed in accordance with
the "Well Installation and Development Procedures" presented in Attachment 4 of
the Workplan. Refer to the Soil Boring Logs in Appendix 2 for a description of the
soils and the well construction specifications. Upon well development, AEMC
collected water samples for laboratory analysis from BD-4, as well as from
monitoring wells BD-1, BD-2, and BD-3. AEMC observed no immiscible oil layers
on the water surface of each monitoring well prior to sample collection. Water level
elevations were measured at each monitoring well location by AEMC on 11
November 1988.
Site Survevine
AEMC directed Nolte & Associates to survey and map all environmental sampling
locations inside and outside the perimeter of the reservoir, as well as the background
sample locations immediately north of the Beck site. Each of the four monitoring
wells were surveyed and elevations established for the top of each well casing. Refer
to Figure 2 and Appendix 1 (enlarge blueprint) to review a site map of all surveyed
locations.
b==-olcz> Page 7
