Beck Property,Tracy,CA November 1988 Site Investigation
Laboratory Analyses
All environmental samples collected during the site investigation were managed in
accordance with procedures established in EPA Document SW-846 and transported by
AEMC under chain-of-custody documentation to Eureka Laboratories, Inc. (State
Certification No. 108). AEMC's identification of the environmental samples for laboratory
management are described on the Sample Management Records (Appendix 3).
Surface soil samples collected form both inside and outside the perimeter of the reservoir
were composited separately and analyzed for:
o Total Recoverable Hydrocarbons (EPA Method 418.1)
o Semi-volatile Organics (GC/MS - EPA Method 8270)
0 17 CAM Metals (EPA Method 6010)
o Organochlorine Pesticides (EPA Method 8080)
All bottom subsurface soil samples collected from within the perimeter of the reservoir
were analyzed for Total Recoverable Hydrocarbons. In addition, the bottom samples from
AB-1, AB-5, AB-7 and AB-8 were analyzed for Volatile/Semi-volatile Organics and with
the exception of the sample from AB-1 CAM metals. AEMC decided to perform these
additional analyses on AB-1 due to its proximity to the oil detected outside the reservoir in
auger boring AB-A.
The bottom subsurface soil samples collected from each of the four auger borings (AB-A,
AB-B, AB-C and AB-D) positioned outside the reservoir were analyzed for Total
Recoverable Hydrocarbons.
Groundwater samples collected from each of the four monitoring wells (1313-1, BD-2, BD-3
and 1313-4), as well as the groundwater sample collected from the open boring at AB-B,
were analyzed for Aromatic Volatile Organics (EPA Method 602) and Polynuclear Volatile
Hydrocarbons (EPA Method 610).
Page 8
