Vicki McCartney [EH]
To: Jim Barton
Subject: RE: TO methods question
Attachments: Soil gas data by TO methods.pdf
Soil gas data by TO
methods.pd...
Jim:
Attached please find the laboratory analytical data and associated chain-of-custody for
soil gas samples that were reportedly analyzed by methods T03 and TO15.
2 contacted Jennifer Miller, the technical sales representative at Air Toxics, by e-mail
and asked for clarification. I will forward Jennifer's response to you.
Vicki McCartney, Senior REHS
San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department
600 East Main Street
Stockton, California 95202
Phone: (209) 468-9852
Fax: (209) 468-3433
Email: vmccartney@sjcehd.com
-----original Message-----
From: Jim Barton (mailto:jbarton@waterboards.ca.gov]
Sent: Thursday, June 25, 2009 6:16 AM
To: Leticia Valadez
Subject: TO methods question
Hi Leticia,
the following question came up during my meeting with San Joaquin County yesterday.
A report of a soil gas investigation for potential vapor intrusion at a USTs site
referenced TO methods (TO-3 and TO-15) . The lab data showed MS/MSD using water units
(ug/L) . The staff person did not contact the lab due to previous experience with a lack
of response to questions; however, they did contact Air Toxics lab. Air Toxics' chemist
said the other lab is misrepresenting the method as TO, since it ran a modified water
method (8260B or 8015) .
Please confirm this response or add additional clarification on the use of water methods
for MS/MSD in TO methods, since the County wants to know if this question is adequate
justification for rejecting the report in GeoTracker.
Thanks.
Jim
James L.L.
