Subsection 9-1022.7 is added to Chapter 9-1022- FENCING AND.SCREENING as follows: 9-1022.7 - Electrified Security Fences. Notwithstanding any other- provision.of this Chapter 9-1022 Electrified Security'Fences shall-be regulated by,the provisions of this subsection 9-1022.7. In the event of a conflict between this section 9-1022.7 and any other provision of section 9-1022 section 9-1022.7 shall control. Definitions. (1):An "Electrified Security Fence means a permanent fence with a battery powered, low voltage, pulsed current- and. conforms to the 2006 International Standards and specifications of the International Electrotechnical Commission for electric- fence energizers in "International -Standard IEC- 60335, Part 2-76", as the standards and specifications may be subsequently_revised from time to time. ilio Electrified-Security Fence shall be installed unfess there is an outer Protective Barrier a minimum of 6-feet _high, in front of the Electrified Security Fence. -(2) A"Protective Barrier" means an exterior fence or-wall a minimum of 6-feet high, restricting direct access to an Electrified Security Fence:A Protective Barrier is subject to the Fencing Standards-of-subsection 9-1022.3 and the Screening Standards of subsection 9-1022.4. In no event shall an Electrified Security Fence be installed without a perimeter Protective Barrier. -(a) Electrified-Security Fences—are authorized to be installed on land- classified as industrial, commercial or agricultural, subject to the standards contained in this subsection-9-1022.7. (b) The Electrified Security Fence shall be- clearly identified by installing prominently placed warning signs ftat are legible from lyoth sides of the fence.-At a minimum, the warning signs shall meet all of the following criteria: (1). The wamMg signs are placer) at each gate and access point, and at intervals-along the fence not exceeding 30-feet. (2) The warning signs are adjacent to any other signs relating-to chemical, radiological, or biological hazards. (3) The warning-signs are marked with written-warning or a commonly recognized symbol for shock, (4) The minimum dimensions for each sign is 9" x 12°. (c) The primary power's maximum voltage for an Electrified Security Fence s-hail not exceed 12 DC volts. The Electrified Security Fence shall only be electrified when the business it is -protecting.is closed to the public. (d) The height of an Electrified Security Fence may be two feet higher than the height of the Protective Barrier, not to exceed 10-feet unless otherwise allowed by code, variance, Special Use Permit, Conditional Use Permit or other allowed exception.
