(AMV), prepared this letter to document remediation
activity at the referenced site during the second quarter of 1994, specifically, the period from
March 25 to June 22, 1994. Table 1 summarizes the system performance. Figure 1 graphically
presents hydrocarbon extraction rates versus time.
The system ran a total of 85 days in the 89-day reporting period for an operating efficiency of
96 percent. Following is a month-by-month summary of activity.
March 25 to April 29, 1994
The system ran continuously during the 35-day reporting period. Over the 35-day operating
period, the system extracted an estimated 1,190 pounds of hydrocarbons (based on field
readings). Laboratory results for influent air bag samples collected on April 13 and 29, 1994,
indicated the benzene concentration was below the detection limit. The resulting estimated
benzene extraction was 0.0 pound. As of April 29, 1994, the cumulative totals for extraction
amounts since start-up of the system were 10,070 pounds of hydrocarbons and 210 pounds of
benzene.
April 29 to May 31, 1994
The system operated for 28 days during the 32-day observation period, down 4 days apparently
because of a power failure. Over the 32-day operating period, the system extracted an estimated
1,000 pounds of hydrocarbons (based on field readings).
