Mr. Kenneth Earnest
July 21, 1994
Page 2
samples collected on May 16 and 31, 1994, indicated the benzene concentration was below
detection levels. The resulting estimated benzene extracted is 0.0 pound. Therefore, as of
May 31, 1994, the cumulative totals for extraction amounts since start-up of the system were
11,070 pounds of hydrocarbons and 210 pounds of benzene.
May 31 to June 22, 1994
The system ran continuously during the 22-day observation period. The estimated hydrocarbon
extraction during this period is 588 pounds (based on field readings). The laboratory results for
two influent air samples collected on June 9 and 22, 1994, indicated that both were below the
detection limits for benzene. The resulting estimated amount of benzene extracted is 0.0 pound.
Therefore, as of June 22, 1994, the cumulative totals of hydrocarbons and benzene extracted
since start-up of the vapor extraction system are 11,658 and 210 pounds, respectively.
Enclosure A contains copies of laboratory analytical reports.
