Use the correct active EPA ID number, CAL000280781, on all hazardous waste disposal <br />manifests and receipts. Correct immediately. <br />11) Facility is not being maintained to minimize the release of a hazardous waste. Three waste oil spills, <br />several feet in diameter, were observed in the south corner of the facility. Cleanup these spills and <br />dispose of the waste properly. Oil saturated absorbent is hazardous waste unless a hazardous waste <br />(HW) determination shows that it is not hazardous. The HW determination regulations are in Title 22 <br />California Code of Regulations. Document HW determinations and keep written records. Correct <br />immediately. <br />20, 27) Failed to label and cover containers of hazardous waste. There were several containers of <br />waste oil without covers or labels. Keep all containers of HW securely closed and labelled. HW labels <br />must include: "Hazardous Waste", generator name and address, contents, physical state (solid and <br />liquid), hazardous properties (flammable, corrosive, reactive, toxic), and accumulation start date. <br />Correct immediately. <br />23) One 55 -gallon drum of drained used oil filters is not labelled. Label filter drums with the following: <br />"Drained Used Oil Filters" and the accumulation start date. Correct immediately. <br />32) Failed to comply with new HW tank system assessment requirements. Large generators of HW are <br />required to have their hazardous waste tanks assessed by a professional engineer. This site has two <br />hazardous waste tanks, one each for waste oil and waste coolant. Use the model tank assessment <br />provided by the inspector as a guide. Send a copy of the hazardous waste tank assessments to the <br />Environmental Health Department (EHD) by August 2, 2010. <br />35) Failed to conduct daily inspections of the HW tanks. The facility does not document daily <br />inspections of the waste oil and waste coolant tanks. Use the provided form or equivalent to document <br />daily inspections in writing.
