San Joaquin Street
Stockton, CA 95201
Subject: Request for Revised Project Schedule
204 E. Lodi Avenue
Lodi, CA
Dear Ms. Meays:
The purpose of this letter is to request that the deadline for
sub=mission of the FtoLle.r: Assessment Report for the referenced site
be revised from October 1, 1993 to November 1, 1993 . This revision
is necessary to accommodate scheduling difficulties and changes in
the scope of work.
The quarterly report submitted by our office in May 1993
recommended a pumping test of monitoring well MW-1, the only 4-inch
well on the site. Subsequent review of the completion data for this
well indicates that it was drilled to a depth of 70 feet,
backfilled to 65 feet, and completed with PVC screen to 35 feet.
The screened interval consists of moderately permeable silt at the
top of a highly permeable sand layer of unknown thickness. We do
not believe that the screened interval will yield a sufficient
volume of water during pumping to provide reliable drawdown data in
any of the surrounding observation wells. The depth and/or diameter
of other wells is insufficient for a pump test. Therefore, we are
revising our proposal to include a slug test instead of a pumping
test. This proposal will be submitted to our client next week.
We are also revising the proposal to include a vapor extraction
pilot test, as recommended by you in telephone conversation on
September 2 .
It is unlikely that arrangements for these tests can be completed
in time to meet the October 1 deadline. At present, we estimate
that the slug test could be performed in early October and the
vapor test later in the month. This would allow us time to analyze
the data and submit the PAR by the end of October.
Sincerely,
GEOLOGICAL AUDIT SERVICES, INC.
y
Victor B.
