tir. y
28 February 1997
AGE-NC Project No. 95-0112
a draft report. The report will include mass balance calculations for petroleum hydrocarbons
in soil. Final reporting will be included in the Quarterly Report -April 1997.
4. Modeling will be performed to determine what risk, if any, remaining hydrocarbons in the
vadose zone pose to ground water.
5. A revised laboratory report for soil samples collected during the July 1996 probing event has
been issued by the laboratory. The revised report, requested QA/QC data sheets and
chromatograms are included in the Quarterly Report-January 1997. The revised data will
be incorporated with soil data tabulated for the draft report.
6. QA/QC data sheets for water samples collected in July and October 1996 will be included
in the Quarterly Report -January 1997.
7. On 07 February 1997, operation of the in-situ air sparging unit was discontinued. Operation
of the vapor extraction system was continued until 26 February 1997.
8. Due to the low concentrations of extracted hydrocarbons, agreement was reached between
the PHS-EHD and AGE to discontinue use of the 1C engine vapor extraction unit. The use
of a regenerative blower/carbon canister systein was discussed. The necessity and cost
effectiveness of installation of a blower/carbon unit will be evaluated after analytical data
from the 26 February 1997 assessment is available.
9. The advancement of one additional probing, most likely located south of MW-1, was
discussed. However, the necessity ;uid actual location for this probing will be evaluated after
analytical results of soil samples collected during the February 1997 probing have been
reviewed.
If you have any questions or require further information.please contact our office at(209) 956-0264.
U11-1c,:rcly,
Advanced GeoEnvironmental, Inc.
Kevin McKibben
Senior Staff Geologist
cc: Ms. Mary Lehr
Mr. Jarnes DeMera, Esq. - Mullen, Sullivan &Newton
