PHSIEHD has also reviewed your correspondence dated
February 5; 1996. PHS/EHD has the following comments for your consideration.
Quarterly Report
Therquarterly report included the results of the October 20, 1995 sampling event
ed to evidence si nificant 'round
water contamination. The
which continu 9 9
horizontal extent of groundwater contamination has been determined, with the
excpeption of to the south of monitoring well, MW5. The inclusion of tabulated
groundwater stabilization data is not necessary, since monitoring well field logs are
submitted within the quarterly report. As..:you are aware, PHS/EHD is interested in
water quality data from MW3 and the October 20, 1995 field log for this well
indicated that it was purged and a sample€:identification designated, yet the sample
was not included on the chain of custody" PHS/EHD was subsequently informed
by Advanced Geo Environmental staff that this well did not sufficiently recharge so
that a sample could be collected. This type of information should be included in
theiilreport text and on the field logs.
PHS/EHD has evaluated the request to reduce the sampling frequency of MW6 and
it . PH'S EHD concurs with the requested
quarterly to semi-annus 1 q
MW$ from; q Y Y
redhuction. .{ PHS/EHD will continue to evall'ate the necessity for an additional well
downgradient, to the south, of MW5, as-further monitoring information becomes
available.
Thequarterly report also included a summary of the soil vapor. extraction/air sparge
remediation system. The system has operated for a total of 1 ,440 hours at an
average extraction rate of 70 cubic feet per minute since August 15, 1995 and
through October 31 , 1995. It was estimated that approximately 621 gallons of
gasoline were removed from the subsurface.
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services
