Casey Foley <br /> January 2 , 1991 <br /> Page 2 <br /> On May 23 , 1995 , Roger Foott Associates , Inc. was <br /> present at the site to observe removal of one waste oil tank <br /> and one leaded gasoline tank and to collect soil samples <br /> from beneath the tanks . On June 5, 1990 , Roger Foott <br /> Associates , Inc. collected one soil sample from below a <br /> former joint in the product dispensing line. <br /> The site is located on the southwest corner of East <br /> Walnut Street and South Main Street in Lodi , as indicated on <br /> the Site Vicinity Map (Plate 1) . The former underground <br /> storage tanks were located to the west of the site building. <br /> The approximate location of the tank cavity is shown on the <br /> Generalized Site Plan, Plate 2 . <br /> RAMCON, of West Sacramento, California conducted the <br /> tank removal operations. No representative of the Lodi Fire <br /> Department was present during tank emoval ; Ms . Casey Foley <br /> of the San Joaquin Local Health District (SJLHD) was present <br /> at the site on both dates during to k removal and <br /> inspection, loading of the tank for transport and soil <br /> sampling . RAMCON was responsible for permit acquisition, <br /> arranging for disposal of the tanks , and notification of the <br /> appropriate authorities . <br /> The tanks were removed from thE tank excavation using a <br /> crane and soil was excavated from t e tank cavity with a <br /> backhoe. Soil sample S-8 . 5-1 collected from below the <br /> former waste oil tank at an approximate depth of 8-1/2 feet <br /> below grade, or roughly 2 feet below the base of and below <br /> the fill port of the former tank. The sample was collected <br /> by driving a clean brass sleeve .into undisturbed native soil <br /> at the base of the excavation below the former tank using a <br /> hand-operated percussion sampler equipped with extender <br /> rods . The tank was spherical and was of single-walled steel <br /> construction; no evidence of holes or unusual corrosion were <br /> observed on the outer surface of the tank.
