2 . 2 SamplC analyses
FSample S-8 . 5-1 was tested for total extractable
petroleum hydrocarbons (modified Environmental Protection
FAgency (EPA) Method 8015, extraction by EPA Method 3550) ;
for benzene; toluene, ethylbenzene, and total xylene isomers
F (BTEX) (EPA Method 8020)'; for organochlorine pesticides and
polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB) (EPA Method 8080) ; for
organic lead using methods recommended by the California
Department of Health Services (DHS) , and the heavy metals
cadmium, chromium, lead, and zinc (using atomic adsorption,----
F
dsorption/F methods) . Samples S-13-2, 5-15-3, and 5-2-4 were tested for
total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg) (modified
EPA Method 8015, extraction by EFA Method 3550) ; for BTEX
(EPA Method 8020) ; and for tetraethyl lead (TEL) and
ethylene dibromide (EDB) using mathods prescribed by the
DHS. All analyses were performed by Mobile Chem Labs, Inc. ,
of Lafayette, California. Mobil Chem is certified by the
DHS to perform the analyses requested. The analyses
; performed were required by the San Joaquin Local Health
, ; District .
P1The results of the laboratory analyses , as summarized
P1
in Table 1, indicated that there were low to non-detectable
Fconcentrations of contamination -n soil samples below the
i locations of the former storage Danks and lines. Low
concentrations of TPHg were detected in samples S-8 . 5-1 (2 . 3
t
r ppm) and 5-13-2 (1 . 1 ppm) ; 0 . 4 p ,m xylene was detected in
5-8 . 5-1 . Sample 5-2-4 was found to contain 14 ppm TPHg, 1 . 2
F1
ppm benzene, 2 . 2 ppm toluene, O . A. ppm ethylbenzene, and 1 . 5
ppm total xylene isomers . Heavy metals were present in
! ' sample 5-8 . 5-1 at concentrations generally thought to be
acceptable by the California Department of Health Services
Fand which probably represent bacground, uncontaminated
concentrations, based on our experience. Copies of the
laboratory records of analyses are included in Appendix A.
F
F -3- ROGER FOOTT ASSOCIATES, INC.
