P: 2 . 2 FSample S--8 . 5-1 was tested for total extractable petroleum hydrocarbons (modified Environmental Protection r Agency (EPA) Method 8015, extraction by EPA Method 3550) ; for benzene; toluene, ethylbenzene, and total xylene isomers F7 (BTEX) (EPA Method 8020) ; for organochlorine pesticides and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB) (EPA Method 8080) ; for F1organic lead using methods recommended by the California Department of Health Services (DHS} , and the heavy metals cadmium, chromium, lead, and zinc (using atomic adsorption/� ` i methods) . Samples S-13-2, S-15-3, and S-2-4 were tested for total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg) (modified r � EPA Method 8015, extraction by EPI Method 3550) ; for BTEX (EPA Method 8020) ; and for tetraethyl lead (TEL) and i Fethylene dibromide (EDB) using methods prescribed by the + DHS. All analyses were performed by Mobile Chem Labs, Inc. , F of Lafayette, California. Mobile Chem is certified by the DHS to perform the analyses requested. The analyses performed were required by the Sax Joaquin Local Health " District . FThe results of the laboratorkk analyses , as summarized in Table 1, indicated that there k� ere low to non-detectable concentrations of contamination inn soil samples below the locations of the former storage tanks and lines . Low concentrations of TPHg were detected in samples S-8 . 5-1 (2 . 3 F ppm) and S-13-2 (1 . 1 ppm) ; 0 . 4 ppm xylene was detected in S-8 . 5-1 . Sample S-2-4 was found to contain 14 ppm TPHg, 1 . 2 F, ppm benzene, 2 . 2 ppm toluene, 0 . 2 ppm ethylbenzene, and 1 . 5 ppm total xylene isomers . Heavy metals were present in Fsample S-8 . 5-1 at concentrations generally thought to be acceptable by the California Department of Health Services F! and which probably represent background, uncontaminated concentrations , based on our experience.
