Proposed Septic System
A new septic system will be constructed to serve the new house.
On-Site Septic Permit History
The San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department septic permit files were
searched for the Site address. Two permits were identified:
• September 1972 permit for new septic system at mobile home. The system
utilized a 1,200-gallon septic tank, a 100-foot leach line, and a 2- by 10- by 10-
foot deep sump.
• April 2014 permit for destruction of two septic tanks.
These permits are included in Appendix 4 of this report.
Existing Septic Tank Usage in the Vicinity
To estimate the septic system usage in the area, our office counted septic systems that
exist within approximately one square mile surrounding the property. Air photo imagery
from Google Earth was used. Each building cluster on the photo was assumed to have
one septic system. Using this method, it is estimated that at least 93 septic systems per
square mile are located in the immediate vicinity of the Site.
The area surrounding the Site consists of vineyards and rural residential lots. The town
of Woodbridge (sewered) is located less than half a mile to the east.
Septic Permit History in the Vicinity
Based on a review of septic permits on file at the San Joaquin County Environmental
Health Department for nearby properties, septic systems in the area use a variety of
configurations: leach lines only, filter beds, and leach lines with seepage pits. The
septic permits can be found in Appendix 4 of this report.
Expected On-Site Maximum Septic Tank Usage
Maximum expected usage on the Site would be from the proposed residence. Septic
system design should be based on the San Joaquin County On-Site Wastewater
Treatment Systems Standards (2017) or other engineering recommendations.
LOGE 1936 Page 2
