Union Rd. , Man- <br /> teca, CA, approximately 1/2 mile west of Highway 99 and 1/2 block <br /> north of the Lathrop Rd. in San Joaquin County, California. The <br /> site is currently idle and not being utilized. The site is situ- <br /> ated within an essentially commercial area. Nearby properties are <br /> primarily businesses with some residences . The overall topography <br /> is essentially flat with a slight fall to the west . The property <br /> has been used by Nunes Brothers for various businesses activities <br /> related to the hay business and as a truck parking, fueling sta- <br /> tion and maintenance facility over the last 40 years . <br /> 5 . Project History: One 1, 000 and one 1, 500 gallon underground gaso- <br /> line storage tanks were removed from the property on June 21, <br /> 1989, by Walthall Construction. It is not known by Jim Thorpe <br /> Oil, Inc . the condition of the tanks and lines when they were re- <br /> moved. Soil samples were taken at depths ranging from 7 to 9 feet <br /> in the tank area and the analytical results have been lost or mis- <br /> placed. Field notes taken by Charles Hunt of San Joaquin County <br /> Public Health Services/ Environmental Health Division indicate an <br /> odor of petroleum in the tank #1 excavation. <br />
