San Joaquin Valley
Unified Air Pollution Control District
July 15, 1998
Jim Van Buren JlJ
San Joaquin County 0 1 7 1998
Community Development Department mmunitY De
Development Services Division
velOPment Dept
1810 East Hazelton Avenue
Stockton, CA 95205
SUBJECT: MINOR SUBDIVISION TO DIVIDE TWO EXISTING LOTS (MS-98-24)
Dear Mr. Van Buren:
The San Joaquin Valley Unified Air Pollution Control District (District) has reviewed the
proposed project. Based on the information provided, it appears that this project will
have a less-than-significant impact on the ambient air quality. Therefore, a negative
declaration is appropriate from an air quality perspective. However, if construction is
planned on these lots, emissions from the movement of soil, use of heavy equipment,
bulk materials handling, asphalt paving and other related activities may be generated.
As a result, this project is subject to District Regulation VIII (Fugitive Dust Prohibitions).
The purpose of Regulation VIII is to reduce the amount of fine particulate matter (PM-
10) entrained into the ambient air from man-made sources. The attached Synopsis
highlights many of the requirements contained within Regulation VIII. The Synopsis is
not meant to be all-inclusive, but it can be a useful compliance aid in the field and office
alike.
Thank you for the opportunity to comment. If you have any questions, please feel free
to contact me at (209) 545-7000.
Sincerely,

Y
Trac .
