SOIL SUITABILITY STUDY MS-98-25 PARCEL NOS , 1 AND 2
below the ground surface with a hardpan or cemented layer at about
4 . 5 ft . below the ground surface .
The University of California publication entitled "Soils of
San Joaquin County , California" by Walter W . Weir , dated June 1952 ,
refers to the soil in this general area as "Hanford Sandy Loam,
with calcareous subsoil or brown Hanford Sandy Loam" and good to
excessive surface and subsurface drainage .
The "Soil Survey of San Joaquin County , California , United
States Department of Agriculture Soil Conservation Service" , issued
October 1992 , lists the general soil type in this area as "Devries
Sandy Loam" , drained with 0% to 2% slopes . By layers the soils are
listed as follows : 0-13 feet below the ground surface - Sandy Loam,
14-28 feet below the ground surface - sandy or fine sandy loam, and
29-86 feet below the ground surface - silty indurated loam.
Percolation Tests : The minimum water level drop of 1j2" recorded in
a 30 minute period during the total test period was used to
determine the reported percolation rate for Percolation Test Hole
Nos . 1 and 2 . The two (2) tests resulted in percolation rates of 60
minutes per inch for each of the test holes . The water level drops
for every half hour are shown on the attached "Field Percolation
Data Sheet" .
TEST RESULTS :
Parcel No . Test Hole Percolation Rate Minimum Usable
N0 . (Minutes Per Inch) Disposal Area
(Square Ft . )
2 1 60 12 , 000
2 2 60 12 , 000
The calculated minimum usable disposal areas are not
recommended for design purposes , however , due to the high level of
groundwater .
RECOMMENDATIONS : Due to the closeness of the groundwater to the
ground surface (4 . 0 ft . minimum to 5 . 0 ft maximum below the ground
surface) the use of a leach field or seepage pit design is not
acceptable . Instead , in any future development of this property
involving the need for a septic system, a mound septic system
design or a specially engineer designed septic system will be
required .
Well Water Analysis : The well water analysis on this subject
property was performed by Far West Laboratories , Inc . and is shown
on their attached letter dated October 5 , 1998 , which is attached
to and made an integral part of this report . Two well locations are
shown on the attached "Tentative Parcel Map" and Site Plans "A and
B" . One well is located on Parcel No . 1 and the other on Parcel No .
2 . Only the well on Parcel No . 1 was tested because the laboratory
DUNGAN FAMILY TRUST , 18913 JACOB BRACK ROAD , LODI , CA. 95242 3
