Naturally formed hillslopes at the site are stable. Pit
slopes shall be excavated at a 2 : 1 ratio, resulting in stable
pit walls. No further stabilization of slopes is deemed
necessary.
There will be no permanent waste dumps or tailings piles
resulting from the quarrying or processing operations. All
exposed, disturbed or barren areas will be reclaimed or
revegetated.
Provision shall be made to prevent water from the existing
watercourse and wetland habitat from forming new drainage into
the bottom of the southern pit.
Upon completion of the 23-year duration prosect, all machinery
and office equipment will be sold and moved offsite, or
transferred to a new location. Any remaining refuse will be
removed from the site.
No pesticides, herbicides, chemical flocculants or other
Potentially toxic chemicals have been or shall be used at the
prosect site. The only potential contaminants to surface and
groundwater are the clays and fine silts resulting from the
processing operation. These clays and fine silts have been
adequately addressed and controlled in the Reclamation Plan.
As no excavation or quarrying operations will take place
within 100 feet of the centerline of any streambed or
watercourse, it is anticipated that no erosion or
sedimentation will occur within streambeds. The Reclamation
Plan adequately addresses the replacement of topsoil and the
revegetation of all exposed, disturbed or barren areas. This
revegetation will. prevent the transport of sediments downslope
and into existing watercourses and streambeds.
No hazardous chemicals or toxic substances have been used on
the site. All equipment is to be dismantled and removed. No
residual hazards will remain at the site.
Topsoil and overburden materials removed from the quarry areas
and stockpiled shall be put back in place during the
reclamation operation. The applicant shall consult with the
USDA Soil Conservation Service or the Agricultural Extension
Service for re-seeding recommendations and shall adopt these
recommendations as part of the rehabilitation plan.
26. If applicant plans short-term phasing of reclamation, describe
in detail specific reclamation to be accomplished during first
phase:
Reclamation will take place in a single-phase operation,
13
CONDOR
