behind earthen berms to prevent the escape of silty water into
surface drainage courses, and to prevent erosion of sediment
into existing water courses. No process waters will be
released.
23 . Describe any actions being taken during the project and as
part of the reclamation process that will enchange wildlife
habitat. Also describe any trees or vegetation to be removed:
The only vegetation to be removed will be that of rangeland
grasses currently used for cattle grazing. No wildlife habitat
will be impacted or removed from the site. It is the intent of
the developer that the site be reclaimed as cattle grazing
rangeland.
24 . Describe soil conditions and proposed soil salvage plan:
As summarized above, overburden soils are made up of. the
Redding Soil Series, a gravelly loam with cobbly-gravel ly
surface textures. This soil has a USDA Capability Rating of
Class IV, a low water-holding capacity, and has shallow root
zones, resulting in a soil poorly suited to agricultural
purposes. This soil has been characterized as a red, acid,
iron-silica hardpan with thick continuous clay coatings on ped
surfaces. No topsoil or overburden materials have been or
shall be removed from the site. The land will be reclaimed for
cattle grazing rangeland, with the replacement of earlier
stockpiled topsoil and revegetation with rangeland grasses.
25. Describe methods, sequence, and timing for bringing
reclamation of the land to its end state. Indicate on the site
plan, or on diagrams as necessary. Include discussion of the
following:
In the northerly portion of the site, the flattened tops of
the low rolling hills will be reclaimed as is, rather than
being graded and re-contoured to some other shape. In the
southerly portion of the site, the ultimate open pit
structure varying in depth from 10 to 40 feet, will not be
regraded or backfilled. Pit slopes and bottom will be
reclaimed for cattle grazing rangeland.
Preliminary revegetation activities will be as per the
specifications prepared by the Soil Conservation Service, and
outlined in their letter of August 24 to El Rancho Rock and
Sand, Inc A seed mix of Blands Brome, Annual Ryegrass and
Lana Vetch shall be applied, fertilized and mulched as per
construction requirements CA 342 for Critical Area Planting.
12
CONDOR
