San Joaquin County November 18, 1998
MS-98-36 Page 2
recommends that the project proponent implement the following feasible trip reducing
measures:
♦ Provide safe bike paths and secure bicycle parking to encourage nonmotorized forms of
transportation to and from the facility.
♦ Include safe, convenient, and visibly pleasing walkways and sidewalks to promote
pedestrian traffic -- especially from any neighboring residential areas.
Provide for efficient interior circulation and pedestrian access within the project area and
provide logical connection points for future development on the surrounding properties.
♦ If transit service is available to the project site, improvements should be made to
encourage its use. If transit service is not currently available, but is planned for the area
in the future, appropriate easements should be reserved to provide for future
improvements such as bus turnouts, loading areas and shelters.
♦ Provision of preferential parking spaces for those employees who participate in
carpooling or vanpooling.
♦ Incorporate a compressed work week schedule where feasible.
♦ Create on-site employee cafeterias and eating areas.
Thank you for the opportunity to comment.
