EM
' from each of the four 10-foot--deep borings by driving a split-
spoon sampler ahead of the augers. (Copies of the boring logs
are included in Appendix A. ) These soil samples were screened at
the surface using an HNU photoionization detector calibrated for
benzene. No hydrocarbons were detected in any of the soil
samples using this method.
On 8 and 9 January 1986, soil borings for two monitoring wells
(MW1 , MW2, Figure 3 ) were drilled on the site under GTI's super-
vision. Borings for these wells were drilled to a depth of 70
feet. Soil samples were collected from these boxings "at various
f
. depths". using a split--spoon sampler. The soil samples were
-'' screened at the surface using an HNU photoionization detector,
. and no hydrocarbons were detected in any of the samples using
s ` this method.
! In December 1986, a soil boring was drilled by GTI in the area of
:-j
the former tank pit for the purposes of soil sampling and .instal-
E} E _ lation'. of a monitoring well (MW3) : Soil samples were collected
from this boring using a split-spoon sampler lined with brass
tubes. Samples 'were handled, stored, and transmitted to Wesco
ai Laboratories according to GTI. standard operating p g procedures, as ;
described in the GTI report. Three soil samples from p o this boring !
f
were analyzed for TPH, benzene, toluene, and xylenes. Results of
t'hese' analyses are included in Table 2:
taw
h In. June 1987, two additional
'soil borings were drilled in order
'fff to collect soil .sam
f p'_as' and install two monitoring wells (MW4,
MWS, 'Figure 3). One soil sample was collected from the 45-foot
It
1evel:.o#_.each- boring. The results of the chemzcal' anaZysis o'f
these samples are-.included with the other GTI soil sample results
in. Table 2
! ,q
'f "2r--71050/8-89./txt 7
