R' MEN I. OEM, y
e
3-3 GROUTING OF SOIL BORINGS
i
After the soil borings had been drilled to 55 feet and the final
samples collected at 55-60.5 feet, the holes were f!A led with a
neat cement grout. E. Ratliffe of the SJLHD was on site to
witness the mixing and pouring of the grout. SB5 was filled with
cement mixed in a mud tub by the Rvilhaug drill crew, and SB6 and
SB7 were filled using cement ordered from Nelson Redi-Mix
Concrete of Stockton. On the basis of volume calculations for an
I'
8-inch boring 55 feet deep, the borings were expectea to hold 19
i cubic feet of cement. SB5 was filled using exactly this amount;
I and .SB6 and SB7 held slightly more than this, probably because
those borings intersected tank fill material that had voids into
^-, which the cement seeped.
' 3 4 GROUNDWATER SAMPLING
As .a continuation of the ongoing water chemist. ;monitoring for
the site, EA personnel scheduled sampling off. the
p g gra anL":,at.er fr0n
the five monitoring wells for 19 July ;r8 ' : F'is were
gauged, and. it was discovered that MW5 w s . t-:p)dtely dry,
`contained only:. moist 'mud at 'theboth, and t W3; _,,-,ta_.ned pss
,r)
than: ,l foot of water.
