Within the building cluster, a house, a garage, a pole barn, an old red barn, three
mobile homes, a shop, and three additional barns/sheds were observed.
Two above-ground storage tanks were observed on the east side of the shop
building; one of these was labeled "red diesel." No staining was observed
nearby. Inside the large pole barn, an empty plastic drum and two small mobile
spray tanks were observed. Inside the southernmost barn, a mobile spray tank,
a drum of animal feed, and several 5-gallon buckets, mostly empty, were
observed.
The domestic well was observed on the south side of the shop building. A
second domestic well was not observed during the Site visit; however, John
Shoup, surveyor for the project, indicated that it is present in the planter
approximately 75 feet east of the main house. The old domestic well has been
capped, according to Mr. Shoup. The irrigation well was observed near the
center of the eastern side of the Site. A 5-gallon bucket, presumably of oil, was
observed near the irrigation well.
Seven pole-mounted transformers were observed on the Site. Of these, only the
one by the northernmost mobile home was labeled with a blue sticker indicating it
is free of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs). No staining was observed to the
ground in the vicinity of the transformers.
Surface debris was observed at two locations on the Site. A pile of scrap wood,
brush, and 35 to 40 tires was observed to the west of the southernmost mobile
home; much of this debris may be the remains of the corral previously located on
the Site. Additional pieces of scrap metal and wood, as well as approximately 15
tires, were observed at the southeast corner of the Site.
Signs indicating the presence of an underground gas pipeline were noted near
the northwest and northeast corners of the Site, as well as near the creek on the
north side of the Site.
The adjoining properties to the west were observed to be vineyards. The
properties to the north were pasture and vineyard. To the east was pasture. The
properties to the south were pasture and vineyard.
5.0 INTERVIEWS
5.1 Interview with Client
Gerard Warmerdam, owner of the Site, was interviewed by telephone on August
27, 2019. At this time, he indicated that he purchased the Site last October or
November. He stated that he is currently using the property to graze cattle, but it
was used previously as a horse ranch. Mr. Warmerdam stated that he intends to
LOGE 1940 4
