The Report provides the results of the groundwater monitoring
conducted on 19 September 2013. Maximum groundwater concentrations were total petroleum
hydrocarbons as gasoline, 8,700 micrograms per Liter(ug/L); benzene, 337 ug/L; toluene, 1,150 ug/L;
ethylbenzene, 722 ug/L; and xylenes, 1,910 ug/L. Depths to groundwater varied from 28' to 29' below
ground surface. Groundwater flow direction was towards the east. UEC recommends continued
quarterly monitoring and implementation of groundwater treatment.
Central Valley Water Board staff concur to continue monitoring groundwater to determine if the case
meets the criteria for a Low Threat Closure, but do not concur to UEC's recommendation to conduct the
permanganate injections at this time. While groundwater concentrations rebounded to 2012 levels in
well VM-9, the groundwater concentrations in VW-2 (historically the highest) are still an.order of
magnitude below 2011 concentrations. The plume currently appears stable. The next monitoring report
is due 30 January 2014.
You,maya —ewitr your ques ionsby phone at-(91-6)-464=461-5 nr b-y-e- m'l --
ibarton(awaterboards.ca.gov.
i
James L.L.
