Hunter & Assoc
dated December 6 , 1993 , proposed to slant-drill four (4 ) soil
borings beneath the removed UST' s from within Valley Motors
property to avoid having to obtain another encroachment permit
from the City of Stockton. However, when it was learned that a
new permit would be required, and the soil borings could be
located within the sidewalk area, the need to slant drill was no
longer necessary Therefore, the workplan has been revised to
permit better placement of the soil borings in order to more
fully evaluate the extent of the possible contamination
2 AJ review of prior work revealed that total lead was measured
at/152 ppm, (mg/kg, ) from a depth of four (4 ) feet at the loca-
tion marked as E9 on the attached PLATE VII1 , all other tested
compounds were below detection levels In order to evaluate the
. levels of lead in that area, (the trench containing the product
lines from the UST' s to the pump island, ) it is proposed to place
one soil boring as shown on PLATE VIII identified as SOIL BORING
#1 , to 15 ' , Soil samples will be taken at 10 ' & 15 ' bgl , and
analyzed for total lead. If those levels exceed 50 mg/kg, an
additional test will be run to determine the amount of soluble
lead present, (STLC )
Four (4 ) additional soil borings will be placed approximately as
indicated on the attached revised PLATE VIII , and taken to 40 '
bgl
3 All field operations will be under the direct supervision of
a registered geologist from Wm J Hunter & Associates
4 Underground utilities will be identified and located prior
to commencing operations
5 The County EHD will be notified a minimum of 48 hours prior
to beginning work
WORK PROGRAM-
1
ROGRAM:1 Move in Mitchell Drilling Environmental Corp auger rig &
support equipment
• 2 Using clean hollow-stem augers , ( 8 1/4" OD or similar , )
1
