Groundwater samples were collected using a HydroPunch II assembly. The soil
borings were drilled to a depth of approximately 1 foot above the groundwater
table, where the capillary fringe was first encountered. In each of the borings,
the Hydropunch II extended from approximately 1 foot above the groundwater
table to a maximum of 4 feet into the table or until the penetration tip met
refusal. Once the HydroPunch II tip reached the desired sampling depth, the
barrel was retracted exposing the screen through which the groundwater entered.
A polyethylene bailer was lowered into the screen and groundwater samples were
retrieved from each of the boring locations.
3.5 Analytical Methods
Selected soil and groundwater samples were analyzed by Sparger for the
following chemical constituents:
• Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons-Gasoline (TPH-G - EPA Method 8015 Modified)
• Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons-Diesel (TPH-D - EPA Method 8015 Modified)
• Benzene, Toluene, Ethylbenzene and Xylene (BTEX - EPA Method 8020/602)
• Total Recoverable Hydrocarbons (EPA Method 418.1)
7
