(Cambria)and has the
following comments.
The Report documents a routine quarterly groundwater monitoring and sampling event that was
performed at this site on February 22, 2006. All but two of the groundwater monitoring wells,
MW-10 and MW-11, associated with this site were sampled. in addition, vapor extraction wells
that are screened across the water table were sampled. This was the first time vapor wells
VEW-3, VEW4, VEW-5 and VEW-7 were sampled since their installation in January 2006. Of
these four new wells, only VEW-5 had no reported detections of petroleum hydrocarbon
contaminants above the laboratory detection limits. The reported detections of contaminants in
all other site wells were consistent with recent historical concentrations. However, the screen
intervals of onsite monitoring wells MWA through MW-3, which were installed in 1990, currently
are submerged approximately 10 feet below the top of the water table. Analytical results from
these wells may not be representative of first groundwater conditions. SJC/EHD is particularly
concerned with the data available on the southern side of the property boundary, near MW-3.
Onsite well MW-4 and offsite wells MW-5 through MW-7, installed in 1997, have screen
intervals that currently start approximately at the top of the water table. Please proceed with
submittal of a work plan to install appropriately screened shallow groundwater monitoring wells
on the southern side of the property. The work plan is due for submittal to SJC/EHD no later
than June 23, 2006.
If you have any questions please call Lori Duncan at(209)468-0337.
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environmental Health Department
Lori Duncan, Senior REHS Nuel C.
