Union Ice Company i July 3, 1996
Mr. Brett Larson -2 - 953-7001
Comment: There was a notation in the report that a soil gas survey, pccurred in May 1990 when
actually the soil gas samples were collected on July 3, 1990. A map with the sample
locations was included without the analytical results k
Response: WHF Consultants reported in their Phase 11 Report of Findings, dated May 28,
1991,that a 31 point gas survey was conducted in May 1990 at the site. Golder
was referring to this report in the chronology of site cleanup activities. Golder
modified the date of the gas collection to July 3, 1990 as indicated by SJCEHD and
the laboratory reports. The reports are included iris Appendix A.
i
Comment: The report indicated that numerous wells were destroyed during remediation. MW4S was
the only well destroyed;however,MW4D was damagedh
Response: Golder has modified the Closure Report to indicate that MW-4S was the only well
destroyed and MW-4D was the only well damaged.
Comment: The summary of tank removal results contained errors fo'r the samples collected from
beneath the 1,000 and 3,000 gallon tanks. { ,6
Response: The summary of tank removal results have been corrected in the revised Closure
Report.
Comment: There were analytical results from A, B,and C drums which were not referenced.
r 4...
Response: The analytical results from A, B, and C drums (containing purge water from
previous well sampling) are included in Table 2-Historical Groundwater
Analytical Results. :I
Comment: The soil and groundwater sample results which were obtained from MW10 through
MW12 were not included.'
Response: Groundwater monitoring results for sampling of wells MW-10 through MW-12
by Golder were included in summary Table 2. However, results of sampling and
analysis by others were not included because the earlier analysis was for
Chromium, in response to a brine release at the facility. These results were not
initially included because the results were unrelated to the petroleum release for
the UST. However,in accordance with the requestpof the SJCEHD, this
information has been included in AppendixK. iy
1
i
Comment: The historical depth to water and groundwater gradient information was not summarized..
Response: The historical summary of depth to groundwater is summarized and included in
the Closure Report as Table 1. Groundwater}gradient/flow direction figures
contained in WHF reports are also included in Apo'endix A.
a
9537001.L03 Golder Associates
 }i s
