a
Union Ice Company- Weber Street
Report of Findings
' Page: 2
Omni Enterprises of Ripon, California, was selected to continue this investigation in
March of 1990. On 1 April, 1990, Omni Enterprises (See Appendix A), was merged
g into WHF Environmental Consultants of Modesto, California. VHF Environmental is
now consultant of record to Union Ice on this project. Henkle and Associates acts as
geologic consultants to WHF and as such, we are the geologists of record for the
project.
Our work consisted of drilling six (6) monitoring wells in order to investigate the
vertical ,nd Iateral extent of gasoline contamination in the soils and ground water
beneath the site (Plate 1). MW-2S, 3S, 4S, SS and 6S tested the soils within the
vadose zone, as well as the first aquifer. MW-4D tested the second aquifer and lov:.-r
soils zone, and is a double cased well (Figure 2).
Soils samples were taken from the monitoring wells at five foot intervals starting at five
feet. Both soils and ground water samples were collected in accordance with
appropriate protocols and chain of custody procedures required by County, State and
Federal Regulatory agencies. These protocols are presented in Appendix B.
The soil samples were taken to a State certified laboratory for analysis. The results of
the analyses are discussed in the text and presented in Appendix C.
Ground water samples were taken from the monitoring wells after development. The
® samples were taken to a State certified laboratory for analysis. The sample results are
discussed in the text and presented in Appendix D.
Definition and evaluation of geologic conditions at sites such as this is often a difficult
and somewhat inexact science. Conclusions and recommendations concerning
subsurface soils and ground water conditions at this site are made using all available
data, and with standards of care common to the geologic community in the Northern
California area. NO warranty, either expressed or implied, is made with respect to
subsurface conditions at this site.
i
3.0 CONCLUSIONS AND RECOALWEADA77O3NS
3.1 Conclusions
------------------- - 1
Soils beneath-the site to-a-de th-af 61-5-feet consist of interbedded clays-
silty
la ssilty clays and sands which belong to a group of recent basin deposits in the
Great Valley.
