 r
I
PRET TMINARY HYDROGEQLOGIC ASSESSMENT REPORT
-- 5491 T'Street,Banta, California
Delta Project No.4,'1. l
Page 13
• Submission of selected soil samples (selection based on results of field•screening samples with
an hNu PID for total organic vapors) to a California-certified laboratory to be analyzed for
BT'EX, EDB, EDC, and 7?H.
• Development and sampling of all additional monitoring wells at the site(MW-5 through MW-8).
• Submission of ground water samples to a California-certified laboratory to be analyzed for
BTEX, EDC, EDC, and 7PH.
• Collection of water level data from all wells (MW-1 through MW-8) in order to construct a
ground water level elevation map.
• Preparation of a Phase If Hydrogcologic Assessment letter report prmenting results of the
activities outlined above and recommendations if needed for soil and/or
i { ) ground water fi
remediation activities at the site.
6.0 METHl7DS AND PROCEDURES
6.1 EfIllinLx and Sol] Sampling
Two monitoring well borings were advanced at the site on April 28, 1989,using a roobile B-53 drilling rig i
and an 8-inch diameter hollow-stem auger. The soil borings were advanced to a depth of 26.5 feet below
W.i r
grade.
Samples of subsurface soits were obtained using a California modified split-spoon sampler. Five samples
were collected and examined from each of the four soil borings at 5-foot intervals. Representative soil
,. samples were collected in glass jars. Headspace gas measurements of total organic WIpars were made with
an hNu PID. The readings from the hNu meter are recorded on the soil boring lags presented in
I Appendix B.
All drilling and sampling equipment was cleaned before-drilling etch.boring-using.a..high-pressure,-steam------------------
cleaning apparatus. The split-spoon sampler was cleaned with phosphate-free soap and rinsed with water
following each sample coli;coon. .
i
hen
fk
he
