PUBLIC HEALTH SERVICES
SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY
ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH DIVISION y T a
Karen Furst, M.D., M.P.H., Health Officer
304 East Weber Avenue, Third Floor • Stockton, CA 95202 `rFoa
2091468-3420
JERRY MOORS "ti` ;, '_... 11
MOORE PETROLEUM R
P O BOX 67
BANTA CA 95340
MAR 0 9 ZgOq
RE: Moore Petroleum SITE CODE: 1502
5491 "F" Street
Banta, CA
San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Environmental Health Division
(PHSIEHD) has reviewed the "Results of Limited Subsurface Investigation and
4th Quarter Groundwater Monitoring Report" dated November 30, 1999, and the
"First Quarterly Groundwater Monitoring Report" dated February 18, 2000,
prepared by Apex Envirotech, Inc. for the above referenced site.
..r The November 30, 1999 report that includes a chain of custody for the soil
samples collected and submitted to the laboratory for analysis from this phase of
investigation does not show the soil sample from Monitoring well 8 at 10 feet
below ground surface (MW8-10'). Please submit a chain of custody for this soil
sample. In addition, the table of soil sample results indicates the sample from
MW8-10' for TPH as gasoline was below laboratory detection limits. The
laboratory report indicates a concentration of 120 mg/kg was detected. This
should be corrected in the table of soil sample results.
MTBE has not been defined vertically or laterally in the soil or groundwater at
this site. The vertical extent of MTBE contamination in the area of MW8 must be
defined. Once the vertical extent is defined then, the lateral extent must be
defined.
Enclosed is a copy of a survey of water wells within a '/2 --mile radius of the site
that was previously conducted by Delta Environmental Consultants based on
information from the California Department of Water Resources (DWR).
Addresses of the wells identified were not provided and the map did not clearly
show the well locations. There are several wells located close to this site that
may not be listed with the DWR. A current survey of domestic, municipal,
agricultural, industrial and any other wells within a 2,000 foot radius of this site
must be conducted. A physical search of the area should be performed to locate
all wells/receptors. Provide the addresses of all the wells identified, a map
showing the locations of the wells and any known construction details of the
wells.
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services
