(Apex), has been authorized by Moore Petroleum (Moore) to provide this
Interim Remediation Plan (IRP) report regarding the clean up of petroleum constituents in soil
and groundwater at the above referenced site (Figure 1). The purpose of this IRP is to determine
a cost-effective way to remediate the site and to control the offsite migration of petroleum
constituents, primarily methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE). MTBE was detected in the Rhodes
domestic well located just west of the site at 5451 F Street on October 27, 2000. Also included
in this report are the results of a groundwater pumping test, utilizing groundwater recovery well
RW-2, conducted at the site during the week of March 26, 2000 and results of quarterly
groundwater monitoring conducted on April 5, 2001. The quarterly monitoring included
collection of depth-to-water measurements and groundwater samples from monitoring wells
MW-1, MW-2, MW-3, MW-4A, MW-5, MW-7 through MW-12, recovery well RW-1, and
vapor extraction well VEW-2, at the subject site (Figure 2). In addition, the Rhodes domestic
well was sampled on a monthly basis during the quarter. MW-6 could not be located and was not
sampled during this quarter.
BACKGROUND
Apex began work on this project with the groundwater monitoring conducted on January 14,
1994. Prior to Apex, work conducted at the site included subsurface investigations and
groundwater monitoring by Earth Treatment Systems, Inc., of Manteca, California; Delta
Environmental Consultants, Inc., (Delta) of Rancho Cordova, California; Nations Groundwater
Associates of Sacramento, California; and Aegis Environmental, Inc. (Aegis), of Roseville,
California. Site details may be found in the Quarterly Groundwater Monitoring Report, dated
April 18, 1991, submitted to Moore by Aegis (Appendix A).
